FOUNDATIONS FOR DISCIPLESHIP, a nine-segment video prepared by the General Board of Discipleship as a supplement to "GUIDELINES FOR LEADING YOUR CHURCH: 1993-96", explores the primary task of the congregation. It presents seven areas of work related to discipleship in the congregation and examines patterns for organization. The seven areas include worship, Christian education, stewardship, spiritual development, evangelism, covenant discipleship/class leaders, and lay leaders. The video explains how these areas relate to and support the congregation's primary task. The unique video presentation and the accompanying 28-page leader's guide are designed to help church leaders focus on the following questions: *What is the primary task of the congregation? *How do we organize to accomplish the primary task? *What is my particular job? *How do I do my job? *What resources are available to help me do my job? The video segments are intended to be interactive. They help raise issues for consideration. The real learning comes from the discussions that follow the viewing of the video.
